Alec Chin and Noah Cardeira land the tail of a 10kW 442 at Angell Job Corp in Yachats, OR. PNE Construction, Sustainable Solutions, Inc., Boyles Electric, and Forsland Crane collaborated to install two 10kW wind generators on 90 ft monopoles at this site. Huge thanks to Tristan Shell-Spurling and Jon Rosche for their invaluable expertise, generousity and sweat.

10kW Wind Turbine in Newberg, OR
At Sustainable Solutions Inc., we completed on our first wind turbine installation in Newberg, OR in June of 2009. The project consisted of a 10kW 442 designed and built by Abundant Renewable Energy and a tilt up, self supporting lattice tower with a 70 ft hub height.
It was a privilege to contribute to this project, a collaborative effort among Abundant Renewable Energy, Hostetler Construction, Andersen Electric, and Sustainable Solutions.
We chose the ARE 442 for its solid engineering, built right here in Oregon. Technical information is available at www.abundantre.com.
This project was constructed in three stages by participants in ARE's ongoing wind technician training workshops. Special thanks to the ever-gracious homeowners at this site in Newberg, and to all the workshop participants. Your ingenuity and determination helped to make this project possible.
Pics of various stages of the install can be viewed below.

Installation of a hinged tilt-up lattice tower
Access to this site precluded the use of a crane so we opted to erect this tower as a tilt-up. This allowed us to assemble the tower and most of the turbine components on the ground. A tilt-up tower utilizes a pole, a winch, and pulleys to raise the tower and turbine in a single move.
